Hate Radio
Excellent writing by Orcinus on Rush, Newspeak and Fascism, Part 10 (no, sadly, not that Rush). One of several installments, I haven't had enough time to go through the rest of the articles but, based on this one, I will find the time some weekend.

I simply have no understanding of the appeal of conservative talk radio scum like Limbaugh or Savage, but it is undeniable that they have a huge influence. I have listened to Savage a couple times on the way home from work - the simple-minded rhetoric and fawning of the callers is really, really sad and ultimately, really, really scary. Recently MSNBC dumped Donahue's talk show and hired Savage - as much as I hated Donahue's show, I'm pretty sure I would hate Savage's show more. Atrios is encouraging a boycott of MSNBC.
