Jerry Falwell: America's very own fundi nutcase

If I may be so bold as to paraphrase a Jerry best-of: "It's the Jews! It's the Jews! Follow me and help me save us good xtians from the Jews! Also, while you are at it, just go ahead and send me all your retirement money and I'll make sure it doesn't end up in Their hands"

Maybe he isn't aware of it, but Falwell's revelation has roots in old-fashioned American anti-Semitism. It's refreshing when prophets come up with their wacky, homegrown theories while eschewing the awful, foreign stuff.

Henry Ford and Louis Farrakhan, both well versed in the socialism of fools, borrowed liberally from the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a scurrilous document forged in Czarist Russia that supposedly outlines a plot by a cabal of rabbis to establish a new world order.

It isn't much of a jump from the Protocols of Zion to the apocalyptic anxieties of Southern Baptists. Millions believe that once he's firmly ensconced in American suburbia, the Antichrist will run for a school board seat and win handily.
