Current events economics on the web
Daniel Drezner helps put the 'chicken little' to my outsource paranoia in item 2, with a couple good essays from the Washington Times. The Brad DeLong link in item 3 is also interesting with some good counterpoints in the comments including this from the NY Times: "The proportion of the work force employed in manufacturing has fallen to 11 percent from 30 percent in the mid-1960's. Two of the 19 percentage points disappeared in just the last 28 months."

Yes, the sky has been falling for many years, but it seems to be gaining speed.

U.S. News: Is deflation caused by too many goods, or too few global consumers? has some more interesting info.
